Dear all,
Call for Panel Proposals - BISA/PSA 2010
In 2010, as part of the transition to the new conference format, BISA will be participating in the annual PSA Conference in Edinburgh, 29th March - 1st April 2010. PSA has kindly provided BISA with 10 panel slots and we would very much like BISA Critical Studies on Terrorism Working Group to have one of these slots. Each Working Group may propose two panels, ranked as either 1 or 2. The BISA Conference Sub-committee will peer-review the proposals to decide which 10 panels will be put forward to PSA. We are therefore sending out a call for panel proposals in any area of researching, teaching and writing about terrorism.
Themes might include: Media, Communication and Terrorism; Teaching and studying Terrorism; Contemporary State Terrorism; Terrorism and Popular Culture; Terrorism, Justice and Reconciliation, Defining Political Violence: War, Insurgency and Terrorism.
Proposals may take the form of paper-based panels; however we would welcome proposals that take a different format from traditional conference panels such as round tables, workshops, book-based discussions, or other formats (recent ISA Conventions have included mock trials for example.)
Please send any suggestions for full panels (100 word abstract and indicative list of participants i.e. 4 paper givers and one discussant) or ideas for themes, books or topics for discussion to us by Monday 12th October 2009.
Best,
Piers, Helen and Emmanuel-Pierre CST Working Group Convenors <Piers.Robinson@manchester.ac.uk>
