Proposed new Naspir Community: Ubuntunkonso 2008/10/04 07:12
Dear all

Five new Naspir members coordinated by Kofi Mawuli Klu have requested the establishment of Ubuntunkonso as a Naspir community. Details re Naspir communities are here:
http://www.naspir.net/content/view/95/60/
We already have four Naspir communities: see the Communities section of the Forum page:
http://www.naspir.net/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,17/

They have provided extensive details in support of the proposal, copied below.

I propose that we handle the request under our 3 day no objection procedure: a member may propose something and if there is no objection within 3 days, the proposal is adopted. This tends to be used for items which are urgent but uncontroversial.

Views and questions welcome.

INTRODUCTION

Every UBUNTUNKONSO Pan-Afrikan Heritage Study Circle for Global Citizenship Action, regardless of its particular location, specific circumstances and modus operandi, has as its Aim: “To encourage diligent study of the wholesome Heritage of Pan-Afrikan Liberation endeavours throughout the World and promote its integration into Global Citizenship Education for Positive Action in the organic intellectual pursuit of genuine Sustainable World Development in furtherance of Global Justice for all ”. This overall Aim is the quintessential guiding framework for elaborating the purpose of each and every kind of the UBUNTUNKONSO Circles that are being formed, mainly as local Pan-Afrikan Community grassroots collectives of Scholar-Activist organic intellectual creativity, in different locations, varying circumstances and diverse conditions all over the World.

The steadily spreading organisation of UBUNTUNKONSO as Pan-Afrikan Heritage Study Circles for Global Citizenship Action into various spaces of grassroots Scholar-Activism throughout the continent and diaspora of Afrika is the joint initiative of the AFRIKALABASH Grassroots International, the UBUNTUMAFUNZOKRONTI Pan-Afrikan Council for Global Citizenship Education and the Grassroots South-North Internationalist Forum (GRASSNIF). The very idea of UBUNTUNKONSO (coined from a combination of the Bantu Languages word “Ubuntu”, meaning “Humanity through Peoples’ Communion”, with the Twi Language word “Nkonsonkonso”, meaning “a Chain of Relationships”, in order to conjointly denote a “Humanity-Empowering Circle of Peoples’ Communion”, was first conceived within the Central Council of the UMOJAFRIKA Movement of Afrikan People’s Unity (UMOJAFRIKA-MAPU).

The overall coordination of the UBUNTUNKONSO Circles throughout the World is the responsibility of the UBUNTUMAFUNZOKRONTI Pan-Afrikan Council for Global Citizenship Education, which has its international headquarters based at the GYE NYAME Ecological Educational Complex (GYE NYAME Ecoducomplex) in Accra, Ghana, West Afrika. This responsibility is carried out in Europe through the agency of the PANAFRIINDABA All-Afrikan People’s Community Consultative Commission in Europe (PANAFRIINDABA-AAPCCCOME), based in London, United Kingdom. An Orientation Course for those interested in playing leading roles in the formation and running of UBUNTUNKONSO Circles in Europe is offered murally and extra-murally by the OKRAKE SoulRoots Educational Complex of Lifelong Learning (OKRAKE-SRECOLL) in London, United Kingdom. A similar Course is also offered by the OKRAKE-SRECOLL in partnership with the GYE NYAME Ecoducomplex in Accra, Ghana.

The idea of organising a special UBUNTUNKONSO Circle to function as an autonomous Community within the Network of Activist Scholars of Politics and International Relations (NASPIR) was first mooted in May 2008 by Kofi Mawuli Klu during a Course Planning meeting of the OKRAKE-SRECOLL in London, United Kingdom. Agreement for this to go ahead was obtained through the PANAFRIINDABA-AAPCCCOME from UBUNTUMAFUNZOKRONTI as well as AFRIKALABASH and the GRASSNIF. Having secured an initial founding membership of five Scholar-Activists to start building the UBUNTUNKONSO-NASPIR Community, Kofi Mawuli Klu then put the idea in September 2008 as a seriously viable proposal to Dr. Eric Herring, the NASPIR Convenor. Thus, have we embarked upon the organisation of this particular UBUNTUNKONSO Pan-Afrikan Heritage Study Circle for Global Citizenship Action as a NASPIR Community.

UBUNTUNKONSO AS A NASPIR COMMUNITY

UBUNTUNKONSO as a NASPIR Community has, as its purpose, the Internationalist promotion of honest Dialogue on the Pan-Afrikan Heritage of Politics and International Relations Scholarship, which supports non-violent Global Citizenship Activism against Injustice, with due respect for the Platform of NASPIR, and in furtherance of Pan-Afrikan Liberation and Global Justice for all.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership of UBUNTUNKONSO as a NASPIR Community is open, free of charge, to all who join the NASPIR and register commitment to working conscientiously for the realisation of the UBUNTUNKONSO-NASPIR Community’s purpose, with due respect for its overall Aim, principles and ethos.

Admission into membership is normally granted after a favourable decision has been made by the Convening Secretariat of the UBUNTUNKONSO-NASPIR Community, headed by the moderating “Nkonsosupi”, in conclusion of its deliberations upon every membership request. Each and every membership request shall usually be accompanied by a brief description of the Applicant, together with his/her own declaration of commitment to join in working conscientiously for the realisation of the purpose, and to respect the overall Aim, principles and ethos, of the UBUNTUNKONSO-NASPIR Community.

Re:Proposed new Naspir Community: Ubuntunkonso 2008/11/08 18:55
As there was no opposition to the creation of this new Naspir community, I have been happy to set up this forum and also to establish a separate resources section on the homepage main menu within the 'Communities' section.
